Pengra Covered Bridge
Pengra Covered Bridge is located in Lane County between Jasper and Lowell.
A unique feature of Pengra is the extra long timbers. The two planks are the longest timbers ever cut for a bridge in Oregon. The wood was rough-hewn in the forest, hauled to location and finished on-site. The two planks are 16 inches by 18 inches by 125 feet each. Using one-piece chords resulted in an extra strong truss.

Pengra spans Fall Creek. The original bridge was built in 1904. The current structure was built in 1938. Pengra was repaired and reopened in 1995. Image - November 2021

If you have a “big” lens; pack it. There is a heron that enjoys fishing on Fall Creek. Sadly, I have not been able to capture them as they fish for their lunch.
